A CARAVAN fire in Crewkerne last night is believed to have been set deliberately.

The Fire Service were called to reports of a building on fire at Hewish Lane at around 1.16am and crews from Crewkerne, Chard and Yeovil were sent to the scene.

Upon arrival crews found a static caravan to be well alight and got to work using two hose reel jets and thermal image camera to extinguish the fire.

A fire service spokesman said: "The caravan was completely destroyed by fire.

"Crews requested the Police to attend due to suspected arson, and also requested a Fire Investigation Officer to attend the scene."
