PEOPLE will get the chance later this week to look inside the new George Reynolds Sports and Community Centre at the Henhayes Recreation Ground in Crewkerne.

The newly built centre will be throwing open its doors on Friday, November 9, from 1pm to 4pm and from 6pm to 9pm for people to have a look around the facilities.

The Crewkerne Sports and Youth Activities Ltd group, the organisation which will run the centre, has been boosted with a £2,000 grant from Cllr John Dyke, of Somerset County Council.

That money will be used for promotional purposes and to provide lockers for centre-users.

A student from Wadham Community School, Alex Jackson, meanwhile, has won a competition to design an official log for the centre, and has been presented with a T-shirt and a voucher. Her logo will be used on t-shirts worn by members of centre staff.
