ILMINSTER Angling Association held the first match of the Crown Winter League on a very low and clear River Isle on Sunday.

Despite the conditions, weights were excellent and Martin Heard was the victor once again with a fantastic bag of roach weighing a level 21lb from peg 125 at Isle Brewers.

Second place went to Jamie Rich with a nice mixed net of dace, chublets, roach, perch and gudgeon weighing 13lb 10oz from peg 27.

Match organiser, Robin Cox, was third with 9lb 7oz of quality roach from peg 126.Malcolm Levy won the topsection with 5lb 12oz from peg 14 and Roger Russell had 5lb 1oz to take the other section.

The next match is on Sunday and the draw is at the Crown Inn at 9am.
