Lewis Goldsworthy has signed a new long-term deal.
Somerset County Cricket Club confirmed that the all-rounder has committed his future to the club until at least the end of the 2028 season.
Goldsworthy, 25, came through the Somerset Academy after progressing via the Cornwall Pathway and made his Second XI debut in 2017, before stepping up to the senior side in 2020 during a Vitality Blast match against Glamorgan.
After signing the contract extension, Mr Goldsworthy said: "This means a lot.
"Growing up in Cornwall, I was always coming to Taunton to watch Somerset so to be able to do something that I love for a living is really special.
"Playing for Somerset is all I’ve ever wanted to do.
"The Members and supporters here are so special, and we play at such an iconic ground, so this means an awful lot to me and I'm just happy that I'm able to keep on doing it."
His First Class and List A debuts followed in 2021, when he was named Somerset's Young Player of the Season.
Since then, he has played 132 matches across all formats, scoring more than 3,500 runs and taking 75 wickets.
Earlier this month, he was appointed captain for Somerset’s Metro Bank One Day Cup campaign.
Looking ahead, Goldsworthy said: "Over the next two years I want to keep helping the Club push for that County Championship title and help us to keep doing what we're doing in white ball cricket."
Hurry said: "Lewis is an impactful all-round cricketer who is a fiercely competitive.
"His ability to influence matches across the formats with both bat and ball, as well as in the field, makes him a key member of the squad.
"He is someone who is constantly looking to improve, and we believe he will play an important role over the next few years as we seek to achieve our on-field goals."
