A variety of events are set to take place across South Somerset between Wednesday, December 17, and Tuesday, December 23.

Mamma Mia! Acting Masterclass with Hayley-Jo Murphy

The West End’s Hayley-Jo Murphy will hold an acting masterclass in Yeovil next week.

The workshop, dedicated to Mamma Mia!, will see participants dive into a scene from the popular stage show with Hayley-Jo sharing her expertise with 11 to 18-year-olds on Wednesday, December 17.

Ms Murphy, who honed her skills at London's Bird College of Performing Arts, has a rich theatre background.

Her portfolio includes roles in Mamma Mia! at the Novello Theatre, Sheila O'Brien in Next Door’s Baby, and Cover Kathy in Singin’ in the Rain.

The 90-minute acting workshop is set for 5.30pm at the Westlands Entertainment Venue, priced at £10.

Mamma Mia! Dance Masterclass with Hayley-Jo Murphy

Ms Murphy is also inviting aspiring dancers, aged 11 to 18, to take part in a Mamma Mia! dance masterclass later that day.

Participants will learn choreography from the stage show.

The session will take place on Wednesday, December 17, at the Westlands Entertainment Venue, from 7.15pm to 8.45pm.

The workshop also costs £10, or £15 if purchased along with the earlier acting masterclass.

Christmas Wreath Making

The Ilminster Arts Centre will host a Christmas wreath workshop next week.

The workshop will take place from 10am to midday on Thursday, December 18.

The workshops will be led by Angie of Cottage Flowers, using locally sourced foliage to make your own bespoke Christmas wreath.

Each session costs £60, including all required materials.

Angie trained as a florist at Cannington College, achieving a Level Three qualification, and opened a floristry shop in Ilminster well over 30 years ago.

The workshop is non-refundable unless there is a waiting list for places, subject to a £5 admin charge.

Back to the 80’s Christmas Party 2025

A festive 1980s-themed party night is making a return to Yeovil next week.

The Back to the 80's Christmas Party 2025 will be held at Westlands Entertainment Venue.

It will take place on Friday, December 19, at 8pm, with classic hits from a variety of famous artists.

New for 2025, organisers have announced the addition of a second dance floor, which will feature a silent disco with a choice of two channels.

A £2 transaction fee will apply to all bookings.

Black Water Country: A ‘Chance to Dance’ Event

A pop-punk and folk band will provide "merriment and moshing" in South Petherton next week.

Black Water County will visit The David Hall on Friday, December 19, as part of a 'Chance to Dance' event.

They have toured the UK and Europe since 2013.

Their music is inspired by pop-punk and folk bands such as Green Day, Sum 41, The Offspring, The Pogues, Flogging Molly, and Bellowhead.

The show runs from 8pm to 10.30pm.

Yeovil Town vs Forest Green Rovers

Yeovil Town is encouraging fans to boost the crowd against Forest Green Rovers this weekend.

The match takes place at Huish Park on Saturday, December 20, kicking off at 3pm.

Season ticket holders can purchase a ticket for a friend at a reduced rate, paying £10 for adults and free entry for under-16s.

Ahead of the game, a Christmas Market will be held in the Fan Zone.
