Perry Street & Yonder Hill 2-1 Combe St Nicholas Res

AT the weekend there was not a lot of football played in South Somerset due to waterlogged pitches and more rain on the way.

For those looking for a football fix, the pick of the local games saw Perry Street and Yonder Hill host Combe St Nicholas Reserves in the Perry Street Premier Division.

That match ended 2-1 in favour of Perry Street but it was a close battle as Combe Reserves fought tooth and nail throughout the match.

Cody Weller bagged his first goal for the Res last time out and was back in the Combe squad and fellow youngster Haydn Otterbeck was in the side after a man of the match performance last time out.

In this match though Perry Street were able to control larger parts of the match and defended well to limit Combe's chances.

Aaron Crabb and Memphis Jones scored the two goals for the hosts in the win.

It was an improved performance from Combe Reserves though who lost 8-1 last weekend against South Petherton.

The Reserves faced a tough South Petherton side last weekend, with another Combe side with plenty of exciting young players for the future.

Along with South Petherton playing good football, the Reserves felt hard done by with some frustrating decisions going against them.

To catch up on the Combe St Nicholas Colts latest match, last week they lost 5-0 away from home against Uplyme.

The Colts faced a tough battle against league leaders Uplyme last week and the difference in league positions shown to be fair given the quality they had on show.

Despite a fantastic performance in goal from young NJ Esguerra, Combe conceded 5 goals. The Colts face another tough game today with a trip to second placed Kingsbury.

Elsewhere in the Perry Street & District Premier Division, Forton Rangers won 4-0 against Yetminster United FC.

In Division One, Crewkerne Rangers won 4-3 over Netherbury in what was a very entertaining battle.

Misterton Res won 2-1 against Charmouth FC, West & Middle Chinnock smashed Dowlish Wake & Donyatt 7-0 in the other game.

And in Division Two, Forton Rangers A Team lost at home 2-7 against Perry Street & Yonder Hill Reserves.

The final game of the weekend saw Merriott Saints defeat Winsham United 4-1.
