Uhlsport Somerset Division One: Combe St Nicholas 2-3 Ashcott
COMBE St Nicholas went into the game looking to continue their winning run however were narrowly beaten by Ashcott at home.
The visitors started brightly, overpowering Combe in the wide areas for the opening exchanges with Combe looking to grow as the half went on.
27 minutes in though and Ashcott got the break through when a header was flicked on at the front post and headed into the net.
Both sides enjoyed a good spell of possession but a firm strike from distance saw Ashcott lead at half-time 0-2.
The second half saw Combe dominate up the slope for the opening ten minutes with Owen Ladd pulling a goal back for the hosts.
But Ashcott were awarded a free kick just in side the half and a curled effort was headed in for 1-3 in the 57th minute.
Combe carried on pushing and got their reward when a one two in the box saw Kieran Willmington bawled down in the box, he then stepped up and slot the penalty into the bottom corner.
Combe pushed looking for the equaliser and despite ashcott having a man dismissed for a second booking could not find a goal.
