Women's FA Cup: Plymouth Argyle Ladies 13-0 Ilminster Town Ladies

ILMINSTER Town Ladies FC were knocked out of the Women's FA Cup on Sunday (November 19) by Plymouth Argyle Ladies.

The match ended 13-0 as the team from the higher division showed their class on the pitch to comfortably win.

However, for Ilminster Town the result didn't matter too much as the players got to enjoy an historic day out playing at Home Park in Plymouth.

The match was due to be played last week but after poor weather postponing the match, the ladies fixture was rearranged to be played at Home Park.

Over 2,000 fans turned out to watch the match, making it the highest attendance Ilminster Town Ladies had played in front of before.

The Somerset side, three divisions below Argyle, saw their Women’s FA Cup run end at the hands of a strong Pilgrims side, who notched eight goals in the first half, and five more after the break.

For Plymouth, Ellie Sara led the way with five goals, with two apiece for Becky Dandridge and Charlotte Whitmore, and one each for Mia Endacott, Tamsin Medd-Gill, Katie Dickson and Jemma Rose.

At the start of the match though, Ilminster had one foray forward down their right, looking to get forward Ellie Orritt running in behind but it was snatched up by the keeper.

From then on the home side were in control and ran in eight goals in the first half and it was more of the same in the second half.

Despite the flurry of goals, Ilminster goalkeeper Lindsay Rogers performed well throughout and was able to make a number of top saves to deny chances.

After the match, the club said: "2,060 fans turned up in the pouring rain to support the ladies today! Ilminster fans were incredible and still smiling at the end. The girls thank everyone who made the journey down.

"The girls worked incredible hard against a tough team and we are so proud of them. Good luck to Plymouth Argyle Football Club ladies in the next round."
