AFTER a blank Saturday last weekend Chard return to action this coming weekend with the First XV at home against Devon rivals Newton Abbott.

It has been an up and down start for Chard so far in the Regional 2 Tribute South West.

They sit in ninth place with one win in their five matches, but have competed well in each outing.

THe next challenge against Newton Abbott is a game they will look to win as the opponents are languishing underneath them in the league table.

Supporters are to note that because of the carnival this game will kick off at 2pm.

Elsewhere, on a warm October afternoon North Petherton Colts played Chard at home at the weekend and picked up a strong win.

The first half was dominated by Chard with territory and possession with a dominant forward platform in the scrums.

Petherton scrambling defence kept them in game and against the run of play score a break away try by Eloic Bell and converted by Charlie Isaacs who had a perfect day off the tee converting 6 out 6 take the lead.

Eventually Chards possession enable them to score a try to go into half time 10-5 to Petherton.

North Petherton Colts regrouped after half time and began to play with more structure & belief in their ability.

They took the three penalties that were on offer and started to build points on the score board.

As momentum began to shift North Petherton score great team tries with strong running and good support play allowed Charlie Isaacs to cut a great line and put Edward Taylor in under the posts to push the score out to 26-5.

Chard came back with a late try to close the score but North Petherton Colts came out on top 26-10.
