Somerset Premier Division: Stockwood Wanderers First 1-2 Chard Town

CHARD Town earned their first league win of the season at the weekend in an away victory over Stockwood Wanderers.

It was a quality victory for Chard who had to battle for large parts of the game but in the end did enough to earn the three points.

The victory takes Chard to 13th place in the Uhlsport Premier Division and just one point above the relegation spaces after the opening six fixtures.

In the match, the home side probably had around 80 per cent possession but were often unable to breakdown the stubborn Chard defence.

if you don’t score you don’t win games and the Robins did manage to get on the scoresheet twice to put them in control of the match.

Stockwood may have felt hard done by in the defeat but Chard defended as a strong unit and were able to make the journey home to South Somerset with the three points.

Up next for Chard Town is an away match against Wrington Redhill on Saturday, September 30.
