Somerset County Cup: Timsbury Athletic 6-0 Combe Firsts
COMBE St Nicholas FC travelled to Timsbury with one of the youngest squads in a while for their County Cup clash.
Five 16-year-olds featured in the squad, with three of them given a start and youngster Neil Esguerra being handed a debut in mens football.
Esguerra was called into action early on with a great one-on-one save standing tall, unfortunately the rebound fell for the striker to score from inside the box.
Combe battled well throughout, but rarely challenged the home side’s well drilled defence.
Manager Gary Parsley said: "The lads battled hard and, for spells, pushed the strong premier team back. The result is not what we wanted but, baring in mind they have beaten premier sides 6-0, we can feel proud.”
Combe will now look to bounce back as they travel to Westfield on Saturday in a return to league action.
