Somerset Division One: Combe St Nicholas 1-3 Staplegrove
COMBE St Nicholas FC were defeated in their Uhlsport Somerset County Division One match at the weekend.
The visitors Staplegrove were too good on the day and were victorious 3-1.
The defeat is third in as many matches for Combe and continues their poor start to the campaign leaving them in 13th place.
In the match, Staplegrove looked to take control early on and they were able to create goalscoring opportunities early on.
Daniel Scadden, William Thompson and Joseph Wilkinson were able to convert those chances, each picking up a goal for the away side.
For Combe, Owen Ladd pulled a goal back late on but it was merely a consolation.
The step up to Division One has brought with it a more difficult challenge for Combe FC so far.
However there is strength and quality within this squad and as they grow into the season they will be able to compete with anyone.
Up next, Combe St Nicholas take on Westfield away from home on Saturday, September 9.
