CHARD boxer Paul Roberts is just over two weeks away from competing for the Southern Area Super Flyweight Title in York Hall, Bethnal Green.
The 26-year-old boxer has been training hard and is ready for the challenge.
"This is an opportunity I have waited for some time, and I am more than ready for a shot at the title," Paul told Chard & Ilminster News.
"I have been training hard and I am focussed on what I need to do, it is going to be a top fight."
His opponent on the night for the title is experienced boxer Jack 'The Punk Kid' Hughes.
Paul said: "Looking at who the bookies favourite would be, it would be my opponent as he has perhaps got a better record and he is fighting in London near to where he is from.
"That being said, I am happy to let him be the favourite, I know what I have to do."
In terms of a fight plan, Paul said: "My plan is to remain calm, I know it will be tough fighting away in London but if I take it round by round and land more punches I have a good feeling.
"Fighting in London against an opponent from London just means I have to give the judges no doubt I am the better boxer."
If Paul wins this fight, as the Southern Area Champion it is likely that his next fight will be more local.
"I am hoping that if I win my next fight can be more local to Somerset, I have fought in Wellsprings before in Taunton and that was an amazing night.
"It would be good to be able to defend a title near to my home town."
