ILMINSTER Cricket Club’s women’s XI dodged the weekend showers to record a 33-run victory over Huntspill & District last weekend.
Batting first, Ilminster made 82-2 off 12 overs (net score 272 in the pairs cricket format), with captain Jess Cox making 13 and Jo Gibbins 10.
For the visitors, there was a wicket apiece for Alison McCarter and Emma Huddy.
Superb bowling from Ilminster then restricted their opponents to 59-4 (net score 239), with Cox taking 2-7, Alice Gibbins 1-4 and Sophie Gibbins 1-10.
Zoe Richards (5) was Huntspill’s top scorer in the reply.
The result leaves Ilminster in second place in Division 3 of the Somerset Women’s Softball League.
