Middlezoy Rovers 4, Chard Town 0

AFTER a month off due to Covid-19 restrictions, Saturday's match between top-half side Middlezoy Rovers and basement club Chard Town went with the formbook.

The visitors started well, with a series of five corners in a row, but the home side defended well with goalkeeper Greg Turner not being troubled.

It was Zoy who struck first as, 10 minutes in, Dan Luce played in Charlie Lintell whose shot was cleared off the line, only for the goal-line clearance to hit Lintell and end up in the back of the net.

It was 2-0 on 15 minutes, as the impressive Johnny Higgins was first to the ball and his clearance set Charlie White through on the angle, finishing brilliantly past the keeper.

The game was being played at very fast pace with Zoy looking dangerous every time they broke forward, and it was 3-0 inside 20 minutes.

Charlie Bridges played in Luce, whose shot was saved, and Alex Male slotted home the rebound.

Middlezoy came out for the second half knowing the job wasn’t done, but it took them just five minutes to kill the game off as Jake Horsey headed in a Winter corner.

The majority of the second half was played out in midfield, with the hosts managing the game well to finish the game 4-0 winners after an impressive team performance.
