ILMINSTER Town Ladies are looking to pull off another Women’s FA Cup shock when they take on Southampton Women this Sunday.

The Blues stunned Poole Town - who play one level above them in the English women’s football pyramid - 4-1 earlier this month, to set up a home tie with another National League Division 1 South West side.

But while Poole are bottom of the table, having lost all of their games this season, Southampton are top with four wins from four.

Sunday’s third round qualifying tie is set to kick off at 1pm at the Archie Gooch Pavilion, and is worth £600 in prize money to the winning club.

Ilminster were without a match last weekend, as their game at Marine Academy Plymouth was rained off, but the Reserves XI did play, at home to Paulton Rovers.

The visitors are an in-form team, and they defeated the Blues 6-1.

Paulton strolled into a 4-0 lead inside 20 minutes, and although Shannon Crouch pulled one back for the hosts, there was no way back for them as Adella Clarke scored three.

Trailing 5-1 at half-time, the second half brought a much more solid performance from the Blues.

There was a 16th birthday present for Ilminster’s Phoebe Lush, who made her first senior football appearance off the bench.
