Worle 6, Chard Town 2

CHARD Town remain without a point from their first four league games of the 2020/21 season, after conceding six away to Worle on Saturday.

Worle had been one of the Premier Division’s strugglers last season, but they were handsome winners here, with Lewis Cahill scoring four times.

Elliott Nelson and substitute Jack Hodrien also netted for the hosts, with Matt Howell grabbing both of Chard’s goals.

The Robins’ search for their first league points does not get any easier this coming Saturday (3pm), as they visit a Nailsea & Tickenham side that have won all of their first four games.

ILMINSTER Town’s Somerset County League Premier Division match at home to Mendip Broadwalk was a victim of Storm Alex, as a waterlogged pitch caused the match to be called off just after noon last Saturday, writes Andy Fish.

This coming Saturday, Clevedon United travel to the Archie Gooch Pavilion, fresh from their 7-2 home win against the Blues a couple of weeks ago.

The Ilminster faithful will be hoping that manager Chris Hill has learned lessons from that defeat and can build on the success of the Blues’ 1-0 win against Chilcompton Sports two weekends ago.

Clevedon, who have shown good form in their opening four matches, currently sit fourth in the Premier Division standings, with three wins and a loss to early leaders Nailsea & Tickenham.

On Saturday Clevedon won 5-0 at home to Nailsea United, with five different goalscorers.

Ilminster sit 12th out of 16 teams in the top flight as it stands, having only played three matches and lost two of them.
