FORMER Somerset player Peter Trego secured some silverware with his new side, as Notts Outlaws claimed the T20 Blast title on Sunday.
Trego was at Somerset for two spells (1996-2002 and 2006-2019), before moving on to Trent Bridge last year.
Notts reached the Vitality Blast Finals Day courtesy of a better powerplay score than Leicestershire after their quarter-final was tied, only for Saturday's play to be washed out.
Finals Day was moved to the reserve day on the Sunday, and in two semi-finals restricted to 11 overs per side, Notts defeated Lancashire and Surrey overcame Gloucestershire.
Chris Nash was injured in Notts' semi-final win, meaning that Trego came in for his first short-format game since July 2019.
The final was reduced to 16 overs a side, and Surrey totalled 127-7 thanks to a 90-run partnership between England star Jason Roy (66) - who was dropped by Trego at mid-wicket early on - and Laurie Evans (43).
The Notts reply began badly, as they lost Alex Hales off the first ball and soon slipped to 19-3.
Ben Duckett hung around, though, and put on 63 for the fourth wicket with Trego.
The 39-year-old from Weston-super-Mare contributed 31 off 21 balls (five fours and a six) before being trapped lbw by Dan Moriarty.
Nonetheless, that burst had steadied the ship, allowing Duckett (53*) and Dan Christian (21*) to reach 129-4 with 16 balls to spare.
What a way to finish the 2020 season, the strangest of strange years for us all, Loved my first year for @TrentBridge and to contribute to a π win was very special. Canβt thank the staff at the club enough and hopefully yesterday made all the efforts worth while!...Tregs pic.twitter.com/T0whAZSCkK
