RUNNING Forever members didn’t let the weather get in the way of their acquisition of bling this weekend.

Spurred on by the exploits of the record-breaking Kenyans, they were determined to seek out their own glory.

Down in Exeter for the Great West Half, a quintet splashed their way to the finish line with Simon Rowland’s 1.50 time leading the way.

Sticking together behind him were Jon Scott (2.25), Ali Wasey (2.26), Duncan Gordon (2.27) and Kirsti Nelson (2.30).

Up in Wiltshire for the AVR Half were Ray Tutton (1.44) and Lucy Spring (2.26).

Eliza Brodie made the journey to Birmingham where the Half Marathon was rerouted due to a security alert.

Brodie completed the replacement 11-mile route in 2.09.

Over in Dorset, Scott Weetch and Jonathan Newby had 3.58 and 4.01 finishes in the Bruton Bradstock Marathon, with Sally Tuer completing the Half in 2.18.

Also taking a trip to Dorset, a trio of athletes took on the Dorchester Dash 10K.

Ali Bissat’s 43.09 on this multi-terrain course earned him a trophy for first in his age category.

Sarah Henderson crossed the line in 50.27, with Paula Bissat finishing in 70 minutes.

Down in Cornwall, Adrian Edwards completed the hilly Eden Project Marathon in 4.27.

Andrew Saunders tackled the 8.6-mile wet, muddy and very hilly Dark Woods event, finishing in 76 minutes.

Heading north for the weekend, Brian Brown collected his Richmond Castle 10K medal in 68 minutes.

The club had parkrunners in Minehead, Catterick, Conkers, Seaton, Chichester and St Mary’s.

Twenty-five took on the Longrun Meadow course, where Mark Alway completed his 100th run.

TAUNTON AC runners have represented their club far and wide, from Cornwall to Wales.

Taking part in the televised Cardiff Half Marathon were Andy Staples and Emma Kiernan, with the former coming home in 1hr 27min 44 sec and Kiernan in 1.30.17.

Bournemouth Half Marathon was the destination for Ellie Steer and Nick Williams, with the former completing it in 1.42.08 and Williams in 1.35.32.

Down at The Eden Project, Jon Gilling completed a busy weekend at the hilly half marathon.

After completing the Lanhydrock Parkrun on Saturday, Gilling followed it up the next day at the Project, completing the challenging course in 1.29.00.

Nearer home, at Honiton Tri, Carl Ward finished 17th to become the first Vet 50 home, while Lesley Westgate was first Vet 60 over the line.

Carl Ward travelled to take part in the Axe Valley Series and was first Vet 55 to finish, taking 11th position overall.

HYDRO Harriers’ Chris Jones returned to Parkrun action last Saturday, recording an impressive 19min 45sec at a muddy and puddle-strewn Longrun Meadow.

He was closely followed by Andy White, who came home in 20.15.

Kevin Barratt completed Mallards Pike (Lydney) in 23.22.

Meanwhile, Rowland Lyons battled around the punishing Torsbreyt (Faroe Islands) 5km, recording a year’s best of 25.57.
