IT finished honours even between Bishops Lydeard Ladies and Ilminster Town Ladies when they met at Cothelstone Road on Sunday.

The game was played in very windy conditions, and visitors Ilminster began with the breeze behind them, while the home side looked to play on the counter-attack.

Ilminster took the lead in the 22nd minute, as Abbie Carslake's ball in behind found Maisie Parker, who cut the ball back for Graziely Esperanca to score with a low shot.

The game was level on the half hour, when a corner into the near post was deflected in to get Lydeard on the scoreboard.

But it was the Blues who led at half-time, as Colette Martin's corner made its way to Charlie Pettinger 12 yards from goal, and she took a touch before half-volleying the ball into the top corner.

Both sides had their chances after the break, and the hosts equalised for the second time with 20 minutes to go, as Holly Miller raced clear, rounded the goalkeeper and tucked the ball home.

Neither side could find a winning goal, leaving them to take a point apiece from the 2-2 draw.

This coming Sunday sees Lydeard travel to Keynsham Town Development, while Ilminster host early leaders Callington Town; fellow South West Premier Division side Middlezoy Rovers entertain Torquay United (all 2pm kick-offs).
