ASHLEY Smith struck four times as Premier Division leaders South Petherton crushed Ilminster Town Reserves 7-0 on Saturday.

Smith was joined on the scoresheet by Nick Flory, Paul Holt and Mike Rousell as the visitors moved top on goal difference.

Behind them sit a couple of teams with two wins from two, one of whom is Winsham United after they thumped West & Middle Chinnock 8-3.

Daniel Norman led the way with five goals, with Joseph Simmons (2) and Josh Manley rounding off the scoring.

George Trott, Jake Hayes and Tim Trevett replied for the hosts.

Merriott Rovers are the other team with a 100% record after they beat Misterton 3-2, the goals coming from Josh Parsons, Jamie Spurdle and Aidee Chislett.

Shares were spoiled at Forton Lane as Chard Rangers and Thorncombe played out a 1-1 draw.

Ricky Anderson netted for United, with Lee Fisher on target for Thorncombe.

Pymore moved a point clear at the top of Division 1 after a 1-1 draw at home to Shepton Beauchamp, Ryan Gay scoring for the hosts.

The only other game of the day in the division saw Misterton Reserves edge out Uplyme by a goal to nil.

With several Division 2 teams also in cup action, Combe St Nicholas Reserves took advantage with a 3-1 win at Ilminster Town A which moved them to the summit.

Kaymon Linsey was on target for the beaten hosts.

Combe’s win saw them leapfrog previous leaders Dowlish & Donyatt, who were beaten 2-1 at Netherbury despite Josh Bellew’s goal.

Ilminster Town A’s lead at the top of Division 3 was cut as they were beaten for the first time this season.

The victors were Combe A, whose 4-1 win took them up to second.

Guy Dare was on target for Ilminster.

Farway United got their league campaign underway with a 1-0 win at Crewkerne Rangers A.

In the Daisy Hutchings Cup, Division 2 side Chard United Reserves sprung a surprise by battering Division 1’s Charmouth 8-3.

The goals were shared around, with Liam Beer, Harry Paul and Alex Thompson’s braces added to by strikes from Robin Brown and Ryan Hammett.

Waytown Hounds eased into the next round with a 5-0 win at South Petherton Reserves.

Tom Franklin and Tom Legg netted two apiece, with Tom Rutland completing the scoring.

Forton Rangers avoided a banana skin, winning by the same scoreline at home to Kingsbury Episcopi.

There were two Tommy Tabberer Cup ties played on Saturday and both were won convincingly by the away side.

Shepton Beauchamp Reserves were dumped out by Lyme Rovers, who won 6-0 thanks to goals from Scott Meyers (2), Peter Peacock (2), Robert Larcombe and Darius Pickering.

Donyatt United, meanwhile, travelled to Winsham United Reserves and returned with a 6-1 win.

Macauley Dempsey led the way with a hat-trick, while Ashley Preece came off the bench to add a couple and Luke Dopson also found the net.
