Taunton Town 1, Swindon Supermarine 1

TAUNTON Town goalkeeper Lloyd Irish made a series of fine saves as the Peacocks shared the spoils with Swindon Supermarine on Saturday.

Town started on the front foot and broke the deadlock in some style on 16 minutes, Dan Sullivan controlling a long ball on his chest before unleashing a left-footed volley across the goalkeeper and into the bottom corner.

The visitors thought they had levelled it up just after the half-hour when Brad Hooper's looping header was heading in, only for Irish to back-pedal and superbly tip the ball over the bar.

Supermarine were back on terms midway through the second half, however, as a cross from the left found an unmarked Stuart Fleetwood and the former Charlton Athletic striker made no mistake with his header.

Irish was called into action on several further occasions in the second half and Calvin Dinsley missed a great chance to take all three points back to Wiltshire, striking the base of the post with his shot in the 89th minute.

Taunton had earlier hit the woodwork themselves, Shane White's cross-shot hitting the top of the bar, but both sides were forced to settle for a point.

Taunton, ninth in the table, travel to struggling Dorchester Town on Tuesday night.
