SOMERSET spin bowler Jack Leach has been named in the England squad ahead of next week's second Ashes Test with Australia.

The left-arm spinner was named as man of the match after his score of 92 against Ireland at Lord's last month, but he was dropped for the first match in the Ashes series, which Australia won by 251 runs at Edgbaston.

Fellow spin bowler Moeen Ali has struggled for runs, and returned match figures of 3-172 at Edgbaston, while Australia spinner Nathan Lyon claimed 6-49 to decimate England's second innings.

So Moeen has been dropped for next week's match at Lord's (August 14-18), with Leach called up in his place, while World Cup hero Jofra Archer is also included in the squad, with seamers Jimmy Anderson and Olly Stone both injured.

Should he be selected for the match, it will be a sixth Test appearance for Leach.
