SOMERSET duo Lewis Gregory and Jack Leach have been named in the England squad for next week’s one-off Test against Ireland at Lord’s.

It is a first Test call-up for Gregory, who has taken more County Championship Division One wickets (44) than any other English seamer this season and captained England Lions against an Australian XI this week.

Leach took 5-109 for the Lions in Australia’s second innings and will hope for an opportunity to add to his four Test caps.

Gregory, 27, is one of three uncapped players in the squad alongside Olly Stone and Jason Roy, who has been rewarded for his World Cup exploits.

Jos Buttler, one of several World Cup winners rested for the Ireland Test, will join Leach and Gregory in a 16-man squad attending a pre-Ashes training camp this weekend.

This will put Somerset’s T20 captain Gregory out of the game at Kent, while he is also set to miss the matches at home to Hampshire and Sussex.
