SCB Major Cup

North Perrott 116-5 beat Bridgwater 114-7 by 5 wkts

BEFORE England won the World Cup in dramatic circumstances at Lord’s, North Perrott and Bridgwater played out a cup classic of their own on Sunday morning as the hosts toppled their Premier 1 opponents to reach the SCB Major Cup final.

Bridgwater batted first and were restricted to 114-7, with Stacy Hawes taking 3-24 from four overs and Gordon Whorlow 1-11 from his four.

Perrott were going well at 92-1 in reply after a fine stand between Alex Eckland and Jack Henderson, whose dismissal for 39 gave Bridgwater fresh hope.

The hosts then lost three wickets with the score on 109, including Eckland for 60, but Gordon Whorlow hit a four from the final ball to win it.

Perrott will play Frome in the final at the County Ground on Sunday, August 4.
