RUNNING out at Twickenham is the dream for every grassroots rugby player and two Chard RFC Ladies stalwarts are getting the chance to do just that next month.

Axminster’s Zoe Winlow, 27, and 18-year-old local fly-half Natalia Roach have been chosen for a NatWest Grassroots Barbarians side to play at English rugby’s HQ on June 9.

They are part of the Grassroots Barbarians team, coached by World Cup winner Will Greenwood, who will pit their wits against another team made up of players from grassroots rugby clubs across the UK, and Roach feels it could be a life-changing chance.

“Chard have taught me everything I know as a rugby player, so it’s going to be really special to represent them at Twickenham,” she said.

“I study at Exeter College, funded by the Chiefs academy, and we’re going on tour to Canada soon, but playing at Twickenham is still the most exciting thing this year!

“I want to study sports science and work in sport, and you want that elite experience but at academy level, you don’t know what it’s like.

“Going to Twickenham will be an insight into what I’m currently working towards.

“It’s going to give me a taste of the top and will definitely give me more motivation to get there.”

NatWest is the Official Banking Partner of England Rugby. This year NatWest RugbyForce is making it easier for grassroots clubs to access rugby through its NatWest Grassroots Barbarians initiative, offering grassroots players the chance to play at Twickenham on June 9 (@NatWest_Rugby).
