THE Ash Town Tree Trail set off from Kingsbury Episcopi Community Centre this year, with Chard Road Runners represented by Miranda Coleberd, Claire Gibbs and Phil Goodridge-Reynolds.
This was a 10k trail race which started with a quick round of the playing fields before letting runners loose in the beautiful orchards and Tree Trail route.
The race route forms a figure of eight, which allows runners to see each other in the various stages of the race, and then finishes with a sprint back round the playing fields.
All three runners set off at good pace, with Goodridge-Reynolds first heading out into the Orchard, while Coleberd and Gibbs were in good contention at the halfway stage.
Goodridge-Reynolds was maintaining great pace and passing several of the early sprinters, while Coleberd was eking ahead of Gibbs with a totally focused performance.
With the last 400m being sprint-able, first in for CRRs in 51:18 was Goodridge-Reynolds, ahead of Coleberd in 01:05:00 and Gibbs 1:09:00 – her best since returning from a recent injury.
