CHARD Rugby Club’s Minis and Juniors held their awards afternoon at Holyrood Academy on Sunday, in front of a packed audience of parents, grandparents and friends.

The awards were hosted by M&Js chairman Gavin Watts, who started by thanking the players, parents and coaches for their commitment over the season, with 280 players involved over the year.

The first group to be invited on to the stage were the Under-6s, who received their season medal from club captain Matthew Tinley, and they were followed by each age group in turn; the award winners were:

Under-7s: Coaches’ Player - Harry Larcombe; Most improved - Emily Brown; Parents’ Player - Ethan Chubb

Under-8s: Coaches’ Player - Megan Driskel; Most improved - Londyn Welch; Players’ Player - Ollie Crouch

Under-9s: Coaches’ Player - Harry Grindrod; Most improved - Matthew Richards & Wilf Wood; Players’ Player - Jack Barns

Under-10s: Coaches’ Player - Henry Lant; Most improved - Sam Anderson & Henry Peniston Bird; Players’ Player - Joe Smillie

Under-11s: Coaches Player - Henry Turner; Most improved - Toby Harris; Players’ Player - Flynn Parsons, Jacob Crouch & Willoughby Scott

Under-11 Girls: Coaches’ Player - Maize Banfield; Most improved - Brooke Cossins; Players’ Player - Scarlett Spokes

Under-12s: Coaches’ Player - Sam Gordon; Most improved - Oliver Brownin; Players’ Player - George Chapple

Under-13s: Coaches’ Player - Max Clayton; Most improved - Marley Mehmet; Players’ Player - Rees Loveridge

Under-14s: Coaches’ Player - Joe Peacock; Most improved - Brooklyn Pope; Players’ Player - Leo Slade

Under-15 Girls: Coaches’ Player - Georgia Smillie; Most improved - Tori Edward Dobbs; Players’ Player - Daisy Lillywhite

Under-18 Girls: Coaches’ Player - Flo Bale; Most improved - Rosie Peacock; Players’ Player - Talia Treble

The last award was the Young Clubman of the Year, going to a young person who goes above and beyond playing rugby, but also actively helps in and around the club.

This year the recipient was nine-year-old Max George, who helps the the 3rd XV on match days by running their water and kicking tee on.
