TAUNTON Athletics Club had a strong contingent at the Bath Half on Sunday, with five taking part.

Phil Roberts was first home in 1.18.49, closely followed by both James Mulready (1.23.04) and Keith Paul (1.23.42).

Lesley Westgate crossed the line in 1.54.22 and Matt Kingdon completed the challenge in 2.08.11.

Andy Smith recorded a big personal best in the Fleet Half, coming home in 1.14.25.

Also notching up a personal best by an impressive five-minute margin was Mark Dayer, who travelled to Portgual to take part in the Lisbon Half.

Dayer navigated the course in 1.37.49.

Nick Daniels completed a Burnham-on-Sea 5k in 19.33 and a Weston five-miler in 30.57.

RUNNING Forever sent a sizeable contingent to the ever-popular Bath Half Marathon last weekend.

Some members chose to run for favourite charities with the Bath Rugby Foundation, Parkinsons UK and Send a Cow popular choices.

Mike Parsons was the club’s first runner home in 1.40, though Ed Herbert (1.44) was only minutes behind.

John Allaway made it home in 1.59, while Sally Tuer finished on the two-hour mark.

Next back were Duncan Gordon (2.01) and Emily Vining (2.10), while Phil Parsons crossed the line in 2.13 despite sustaining an injury early in the event.

Kirsti Nelson (2.30) and Morwenna Dunstan (2.47) were the final RFRC finishers.

Heather Pearce took on the Fission 20 mile race, finishing in 2.39.

Ray Tutton ventured to Gloucester for the same distance where he completed his run in 2.44.

Taking on a shorter distance was one of our unofficial members, Border Terrier Scruff Moffat, accompanied his running partner Helen.

They enjoyed the Hestercombe Doggy Dash 5K and Scruff was rewarded with a bandana for his efforts.

Parkrun tourists ventured to Newbury, Conkers, Peter Pan, Cheltenham, Yeovil Montacute, Burnham and Mountbatten School parkruns.

Seventeen took on Longrun Meadow where Lisa Windsor and Tracy Marshall earned themselves new PB times.

HYDRO Harriers’ Ian Salter gave a strong performance at last Thursday’s seventh instalment of the 18/19 Season Weston Prom run.

In mildly breezy conditions, he crossed the line in 32min 11sec (46th from 228).

Mark Foss overtook Chris Jones on the final turn, cruising home in 33-18 (64th), with Jones finishing four places back in 33.39.

Andrew Phelps battled around Burnham in 28.19, while Rowland Lyons showed a slight improvement at Valentine’s (Ilford) managing 25.55.

EXACTLY 300 runners took on the wind at Longrun Meadow Parkrun on Saturday morning.

Parkrun tourists were present from the Minster Milers couch to 5k group, Leighton Buzzard, Lincoln, Bridport, Cirencester and Dublin.

It was a milestone event for Paul Matravers, who completed his 200th parkrun - all of which have been at Longrun Meadow - in a time of 27.42.

In the true spirit of parkrun, Matravers has also volunteered for marshal duties on 40 occasions.
