SATURDAY night brought a mixed bag of results for Blueflames ABC at Torbay.

First into the ring was Tommy Heyburn up against Syd Sleep from Sturminster Newton BC.

The Blueflames boxer was on the front foot throughout the bout although Sleep boxed well under pressure and caught the Taunton boxer several times.

Heyburn's nose was bleeding throughout but he did well to not let it dishearten him.

All three judges decided Sleep's cleaner and more accurate punches were enough for him to win.

Next into the ring was Tommy's Dad, Simon Heyburn.

He was brought in as a last minute opponent for the much more experienced Kaiden Symonds, from Falmouth.

Simon boxed well and did not look out of place and his confidence grew as the bout progressed, putting the Falmouth boxer under pressure at time.

The judges awarded the bout to Symonds.

Royal Marine Chris Murray was next up. Murray, based with 40 Commando was having his first bout for the Blueflames, and was up against Torbay's Marcus Trott.

Trott came out strong and fast and caught Murray before the Taunton boxer found his feet.

Round 1 was fairly even but, as the bout progressed, Murray's success improved until the final round when Murray caught Trott with several hard punches and the referee quickly jumped in to stop the bout, giving the Blueflames boxer a great win.

Lastly into the ring was experienced Lewis Scutt against Devonport's Jordon Cogley.

Round 1 was even but thereafter the Scutt was superior which seemed to be enough to guarantee the win in a great bout.

To the surprise of most in the crowd, Cogley was awarded the result.
