CHARD have the chance to put distance between themselves and the bottom two if they can defeat fellow Western Counties West strugglers Bideford on Saturday.
Doing so would mean Chard have to win on the road for the first time this season, and they are looking for a positive response to last weekend's 28-19 defeat at home to Wadebridge Camels.
Chard are currently one place and six points above the bottom two, with Bideford sat second bottom.
It is Chard's last match of 2018.
Chard 2nds and 3rds are both at home this weekend - the former host Martock and the latter welcome Wincanton.
The traditional Boxing Day match between Chard Vets and their Crewkerne counterparts takes place again this year at Chard Rugby Club, with a kick-off time of 2pm.
Players must be over 35 to take part and entry for spectators is free.
