IN decent golfing conditions on Monday, 45 members of the Cricket St Thomas Senior section entered a three-man stableford competition in which all three scores were aggregated.

In a competitive finish, Ian Housham’s team managed to hold off the team led by Brian Marsh and secure victory by two points, with Des Denning’s trio three points behind in third place.

Result: 1. Ian Housham; Bob Barrow & Bill Hilson -106 points; 2. Brian Marsh; Clive Fisk & Gordon Bareham - 104 points; 3. Des Denning; Roger Stone & Robin Flower - 101 points

Weather conditions on Wednesday caused the cancellation of the first round of the Winter League competition.

The Seniors completed their week on Friday when 39 members braved the conditions and entered a three-man Texas scramble competition played over 15 holes.

The runaway winners with an unassailable score of 44.83 was the team led by Stuart Pope whose round consisted of nine pars and six birdies.

A tie ensued for second place with both teams having identical scores, with Chris Gingell’s team having a better back nine.

Following the competition, 66 members of the Senior section attended the AGM where captain Barrie Heath thanked his team for their support over the year and handed over the captaincy to Peter Spencer-Farr and his new vice-captain, Ian Housham. Subsequent to discussions concerning the future year, prize giving took place and silverware was distributed to the recipients, including Chris Gingell who took the prize of Senior knockout champion.
