CHARD Town face a difficult trip to Ashton & Backwell tomorrow in the First Division of the Toolstation Western league (ko 3pm).

Never an easy place to go, Ashton & Backwell are currently in seventh place, just three points behind second-placed Chard.

Chard manager Jamie Manley also has a few selection problems, with Matt Howell working, and strikers James Boyland and Steve Friend also unavailable.

Steve Smith is still injured, but Liam Cleal should have recovered from a hamstring twinge, and hopefully Jacob Manley and Tom Salter will have shaken off ankle knocks.

This is followed by a journey to Portishead on Tuesday, November 13 in the second round of the Somerset Premier Cup (ko 7.30pm), but all the 'missing' players should be back.

Portishead are a bit of a Jekyll & Hyde side, being in the lower reaches of the league, but having won convincingly at Odd Down and Welton in recent weeks.

Chard Reserves are at Zembard Lane, and will be looking to preserve their unbeaten home league record, when they entertain Sidmouth Reserves tomorrow, in Division 1 of the Macron Devon & Exeter League (3pm).

Ilminster Town Reserves are at home to Combe St Nicholas Reserves in a Perry Street League Division 1 match.

All are 2.30pm kick-offs.
