JACK Leach has been given the nod to represent England in their first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle.

The Somerset spinner has been selected alongside his childhood friend, and fellow Taunton-born cricketer, Jos Buttler, with Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid also offering spin bowling options.

England won the toss and chose to bat first, but despite 46 from Keaton Jennings and captain Joe Root's 35, the tourists were 113-5 at lunch as Suranga Lakmal and Dilruwan Perera took two wickets apiece.

Buttler and Ben Foakes are looking to rebuild in the ongoing afternoon session, with Leach expected to bat at number 10.
