CHARD Rugby Club's 1st XV face a real test at home on Saturday when they entertain leaders Sidmouth (ko 2.15pm).

Chard narrowly lost 26-24 in a game of two halves at Saltash on Saturday, but they are a stronger side at home than away and will be hoping to stop their visitors in their tracks tomorrow.

Chard urge their supporters to turn up in numbers to be the extra man for their team.

CHARD RFC Under-14s got a win and new kit to show off when they played Wellington recently in a hard-fought contest.

It was even in the first half but Chard went on to show their fitness by beating the visitors 31-12 with tries being scored by Warren Bowditch, Joe Peacock and and Leo Slade with successful kicks from Bowditch and Ethan Underhill.

Coach Matt Bowditch said he was very proud of the way the team worked together and stepped up a gear in the second half to get the result through determination and good rugby skills.

He also wanted to thank Rose and Martin from Barleymow's Farm Shop and Colin and Tina from Total Financial Wealth Management for supplying reversible shirts and shorts for each player.
