Priory 26, Queensway 39

PRIORY played Galmington’s Queensway and lost a tidy match played in blustery conditions.

They were 11-7 down at the end of the first half but got to grips with the conditions to hold their opponents going into the second half.

Verity Ward and Ellie Tolman had their work cut out by Queensway’s shooters and Zoe Stacey and Sophie Bond had to be close to the post to avoid shooting from distance in the windy conditions.

Somerset Division 3
Highfield 42, Mars 16

HIGHFIELD took to the court this weekend undeterred by Storm Callum to take on Bridgwater’s Mars.

Highfield started strongly, working the ball effortlessly down court and into the shooting circle to end the first quarter 12-5.

With their confidence buoyed, the team focused on their defensive play in the second quarter, making some great interceptions at both ends of the court.

The third quarter saw Highfield pile on the pressure with little response from Mars and the attack worked tirelessly to create a 30-12 lead.

Highfield remained determined in the final quarter to develop on their lead and put their training into practice to achieve a 42-16 win.

Player of the match went to Imogene Spink for her exemplary defensive play.

Galmington’s newest team thoroughly earned their win this week and will be looking to repeat their performance as they take on Luna, another Bridgwater side, next week.

Highfield sponsored by M & J Hawkins.
