THE Jurassic League 2007 began with members of Ilminster Swimming Club attending the first round gala hosted by Heron Swim Club, at the Yeovilton Naval Base.

The competition was fast and demanding for all the clubs involved, providing some unexpected results and challenges.

The club took many of their younger swimmers, giving them an insight and opportunity to take part in competitive swimming for the first time. They all swam very well and many gained new personal best (PB) times for their efforts.

Well done to Joley Coles (3rd 25m B/R (24.84 PB), Megan Rogers (6th 25m F/C (21.00), Amber Miles (5th 25m B/C (24.02 PB), Katy Watson (5th Fly (30.99) and Laura Busby.

All the girls swam in the 10yrsand under F/C and Medley Relay teams, providing exciting finishes.

Rhys Carnell (3rd 25m F/C (19.18 PB, and 4th 25m B/C (24.35 PB) with Toby Willetts, Kieran Rendall, Noah Carnell and Jack Kelly swam in the F/C and Medley Relay teams.

The 12yrs and under girls saw debut swimmers Jenny Kerr and Ellie Horgan in the F/C and Medley relay teams. Amy Stainton 3rd 50m B/C (42.49 PB) and 3rd 50m F/C (37.92), Stephanie Hipgrave 4th 50m B/R (52.81 PB).

The 12yrs and under boys provided some very exciting swimming with team members Ryan Sims, James Dunn, Aaron Stayner, Matthew Gerrard and Ben Rutter gaining second place in both the F/C and Medley Relays. Ryan Sims gained an impressive 1st in 50m B/C (41.92 PB), Aaron Stayner 3rd 50m F/C (37.44) and 4th 50m Fly (48.13), James Dunn 3rd 50m B/R (51.92 PB).

In the Girls 14 and under, Jade Parris 4th 50m B/C (40.02 PB), 6th 50m Fly (41.32 PB), Jade Boyland 3rd 50m B/R (45.68 PB) and 6th 50m F/C (34.88).

The 14 and under girls team of Gabbie King, Stephanie Hallam, Jade Boyland and Jade Parris were 3rd F/C and 5th Medley relays, and gave impressive swims, producing very close finishes.

Ryan Stayner swam well in the boys 14 and under, 3rd 50m F/C (34.72) 4th 50m B/C (42.51 PB) 5th 50m B/R (50.98).

The Boys 14 and under relay teams gained a 3rd F/C and 2nd Medley, with Jake Foster maintaining a fast finish for the teams. The 16 and under girls swept the board with 1st F/C (1.01.88) and 1st Medley (1.11.05) relays with the team of Chloe Tuck, Francesca Hipgrave, Alice Miller and Poppy Tuck.

16 and under Individual events: Alice Miller 2nd 50m Fly (36.27); Francesca Hipgrave 2nd 50m B/R (41.09 PB); Chloe Tuck 2nd 50m (32.42 PB).

The 16 and under boys had a lot prove in a strong field. Ryan Parris 3rd 50m Fly (34.37) 3rd 50m B/C (36.02 PB) 5th 50m F/C (30.60) and Oliver Reeves 6th 50m B/R (43.06 PB). The 16 and under boys relay teams worked hard for their placings with 3rd F/C and 5th Medley relays with Russell Bonfield, Ryan Stayner and Jake Foster.
