CHARD 3rds lost 43-24 to Yatton 3rds in Somerset 3 (S) after their visitors ran in six first half tries.
Chard only managed to get on the scoreboard when stalwart Mike Summers showed he has lost none of his pace raced through for a great score.
It looked as if Chard were in for a real hammering from their high-flying Yatton opponents but after some tactical switches at half time and a stern talking to from skipper Tom Jones Chard got their act together – ‘winning’ the second half by three tries to one.
Utility back Lee Brun ran in for two tries and the evergreen Mick Duffy added a third with a typically powerful break from two metres out.
With three conversions to add to their try tally, Chard were pleased with their second half perfomance after such a difficult first 40 minutes.
The 3rds are always on the look-out for former players and new players to get involved again and any one interested should contact Tom Jones on 07990-580694.
