TATWORTH and Chard emerged victorious when Holyrood Academy hosted a primary schools football competition.
The sun shone as over 80 pupils showing off their skills and impressing the crowd of staff, students, parents and friends on the Academy’s artificial pitch.
Tatworthy won the competition for large schools by beating while Chard came out on top in the battle between small schools.
Runners-up were Avishayes and Manor Court and all four will now go on to represent the Holyrood Cluster in the South Somerset district finals on Yeovil Recreation Ground on November 13.
Primary schools sports co-ordinator, Jason Hedaux, said: “I was delighted at the huge numbers attending and was proud of the Holyrood Academy students who assisted in refereeing the matches.
“The event demonstrated the Academy’s efforts to encourage competitive sport among children.
Principal Mr Martin Brook said: “We are always looking for ways to further strengthen the links we have with our primary schools and these special events will remain a focus for Holyrood’s community efforts throughout the year.”
