TWO villages near Chard enjoyed sunshine and fun as they held their summer fetes.
Both Tatworth and Buckland St Mary held summer fetes on Saturday, with stalls, raffles, food and smiles on offer at both.
Buckland St Mary’s church and community fete was held at Buckland House, with permission of Anthony and Christina Norton.
St John the Evangelist’s annual church summer fete was held on the playing fields in Tatworth.
Lesley Frankau, of the St John’s parochial church council and social and fundraising group, said: “All in all a happy afternoon which raised more than £1,600 for church funds.
“As locals already know, St John’s has been celebrating its 150th anniversary with the church raising funds for a storage annexe to the church hall for the youth club equipment, plus the recently opened Mother’s and Toddlers Group items. Toilet facilities also need to be upgraded.”
