FAMILIES, friends and former pupils of Chard School enjoyed a moving Remembrance Service on Friday (November 11) in the chapel.

There were personal family war memories, poetry and music from all the Prep classes as they honoured those men and women who have fallen in the line of duty, including former pupils at the school.

The Roll of Honour was read by Old Cerdic Brab Hallowes.

At the end of the service, the Exhortation was read by headteacher Katie Hill and was followed by a minute’s silence.

Mrs Hill said: “A very poignant service, lead beautifully by our older pupils.”

Earlier in the week the younger pupils learnt about Remembrance Day and the meaning behind the poppies we wear by taking part in a Remembrance Activity Day.

At 11am on the Friday, the whole school came together in the playground to observe the two minute silence.
