A THUNDERSTORM warning has been issued for Somerset and the South West.

The Met Office said the warning will be in place tomorrow, Friday July 22, as “slow-moving shower” and thunderstorms are likely to affect the area.

The yellow warning will be in place from 10am to 10pm.

The Met Office also added:

  • Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures;
  • Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services;
  • There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost.

    The current warning follows a previous one issued on Tuesday, July 19 warning of thunderstorms forming in parts of Somerset just after a heatwave.
