A CLASSIC Jaguar, which has been in the same family for 62 years, is going under the Charterhouse gavel in their classic and collector car auction on Wednesday July 6 at the Haynes International Motor Museum.

“It is amazing to see a car being owned and cherished by one family for such a long time,” said Charterhouse's Richard Bromell.

The Jaguar Mk II rolled off the production line in 1960.

Finished in mist grey with a red leather interior it was fitted with the 3.4 litre engine mated to an automatic gearbox.

Over the past 62 years this Jaguar passed from a grandfather to his grandson and has remained in and around Ilminster all this time.

With a large history file, including its long expired 1960 guarantee, it has only travelled an average of 1,400 miles from new.

A few years ago it was treated to a bare metal respray but with a recent house move the second owner has taken the difficult decision to let a new family take over custodianship of his beloved Jaguar.

Viewing for this classic car auction at Haynes is on Tuesday, July 5, with the auction on July 6.

All the lots can be seen HERE where live internet bidding is also available.
