A CHARD resident recorded an incredible video of last night's thunderstorms, which received a yellow weather warning from the Met Office.

The national weather service has today issued another yellow thunderstorm warning for parts of the UK, making it two in two days.

The warning is in place between 1pm and 10pm today (Monday, May 16) and covers parts of the Midlands, the north of England, and Northern Ireland.

The Met Office provided a similar weather warning for the south west yesterday due to a forecast of thunderstorms starting at 8pm.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said about today's weather warning: “Scattered thunderstorms will develop (on) Monday afternoon bringing some disruption to travel in places.”

The service has also provided a list of things to expect while the warning is in place:

  • There is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and/or hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus;
  • Delays to train services are possible;
  • Some short term loss of power and other services is likely;
  • There is a chance of some flooding of homes and businesses or some damage to a few buildings or structures from lightning strikes.

The weather warning may affect drivers heading northbound as they pass Stroud and Gloucester.
