SOMERSET'S latest McDonald's restaurant has been officially opened.

The ribbon cutting ceremony at the new outlet in Sherborne Road, Yeovil, was a family affair.

The honours were carried out by Yeovil Mayor Cllr Evie Potts-Jones and her daughter, Maggie, a shift manager at the restaurant.

Following significant investment from local franchisee Tim Lamb, the restaurant is now open to the public for dine-in, takeaway, drive-thru, delivery services and click and serve.

With the addition of this restaurant, Mr Lamb has created more than 105 full and part-time jobs and now hires over 1,300 people across the county.

He owns 12 restaurants in Somerset, including the nearby Lysander Road eaterie.

Mr Tim Lamb said: “We are delighted to have officially opened another brand new McDonald’s restaurant in Yeovil.

"I would like to thank the Mayor of Yeovil for cutting the ribbon at our grand-opening.

"Our restaurant teams are proud of the positive role we play in the communities we serve and look forward to continue seeing local customers enjoy our food.”

The new restaurant boasts all the latest innovations from McDonald’s, focused on improving and enhancing the restaurant experience for customers.

Table service is available and self-service kiosks mean visitors can order at a speed that suits them, while easily accessing nutritional information and making informed food choices.

Smart digital drive-thru menu boards have been installed.

The My McDonald’s App will be available to use at the restaurant, allowing customers to order and pay contactless for their meal ahead of time.
