WEDDING season is approaching, and Somerset County Council wants to make it easier for you to plan your big day.

Somerset Registration Service has launched a user-friendly new website to help people planning a wedding or civil partnership in Somerset.

It provides everything couples need to create their special day.

The council says Somerset is becoming an increasingly popular wedding destination, with a wide variety of licensed venues. From converted barns to underground caves and unusual historic buildings such as a centuries old village lock up for drunks.

SomersetWeddingService.org.uk features all 115 of these licensed venues, as well as a supplier directory of local wedding industry professionals and a comprehensive guide to Somerset ceremonies.

Couples can find all the information they need for planning their special day, plus a location map and downloadable ceremony form, with guidance on planning the order of service: choosing readings, poetry and live music and writing your own vows.

The best of Somerset’s wedding industry suppliers is also available in the website’s new Directory - from florists to photographers. Local suppliers can get in touch with the site, to showcase their business to the 3000 couples who have a ceremony with the service every year.

“It’s fantastic to see so many couples choosing to get married in Somerset,” said Anna Groskop, Cabinet Member with a responsibility for the Somerset Registry service.

“With our unique wedding venues, great travel links and friendly and welcoming locals, there is something to suit everyone’s wedding theme and budget and this website makes it easy for couples to plan their own bespoke ceremony. Add to that idyllic countryside, and Somerset is the perfect place to tie the knot.”
