The comedian Jack Whitehall has announced that he is expecting his first child with his girlfriend Roxy Horner.

In a post he shared on Twitter, Jack showed a picture of him and Roxy with a scan of their child, with the caption: "Should probably finally learn to drive now. #Adulting #DadLevel".

On Instagram, he also shared an additional picture of the couple with the images, and a different caption, writing: "And I thought I wasn’t getting enough attention when the dog arrived…"

The couple already know their baby's gender, as reported by The Mirror, but this has not been revealed publicly yet.

How did people react to the news?

People were quick to send in notices of congratulations to the couple on Jack's social media accounts.

TV personality Thomas Skinner tweeted: "Well done mate. Congratulations to you both. Your gonna love it. Bosh."

Another posted: "Really taking this settling down thing seriously then? Congratulations to you both!"

Meanwhile, one person joked: "I'm going to be doing my driving lessons this year and I'm 55 next month, good luck to you xx".

Some people made a reference to the show 'Travels with My Father', which is a travel show Jack does with his own father Michael.

One person tweeted: "Congratulations! Another Netflix show with you as the curmudgeonly dad in 20 years!"

Another put: "Can't wait until 2054 when you do Travels with my Father...."

Jack replied to that one, saying: "It’s definitely crossed my mind."
