THIS year’s Ilminster Christmas light switch-on will look a little different; here's how.
The event will now run from 2pm to 6pm on Sunday, November 22, with road closures in place until 7pm.
Matt Sainsbury, a spokesperson for Ilminster Christmas Lights said this decision to "shake things up" has followed long discussions around the format of the event.
The change aims to refresh the traditional celebrations and create a more family-friendly experience.
Mr Sainsbury said: "The Chamber of Commerce and the Christmas Lights Switch-On Committee have agreed to shake things up and bring a fresh new feel to this year’s celebrations, while moving it to a Sunday.
"There has been mixed opinion on the change, but it is believed the new format will reinvigorate the event and give increased opportunities for businesses, as well as giving potential customers who can’t get into the town during normal trading hours the chance to see what is on offer."

The decision follows discussions about the declining number of shops staying open on the night, time pressures for attendees after work, limited volunteer support, and feedback that the entertainment felt rushed.
Some shops have already said they will be opening 1pm to 5pm, allowing staff to join the celebrations when the lights are switched on at 6pm.
A craft market will be held in the town and the event will remain family-focused while retaining some traditional elements.
Entertainment will take place on the stage in the Market Square from 2pm and will include performances by school choirs, majorettes, children's entertainers, and live musicians.
Organisers hope that holding the event during daylight hours and extending its duration will encourage visitors to spend more time in the town and attract new customers, helping to showcase what the town has to offer this Christmas.
