THE George Ilminster has announced that it will be reopening soon after putting in a licensing application in June to allow it to have “one last chance" to open.
The pub, in North Street, has announced across social media platforms that it will be opening its doors on September 15.
There will also be a soft launch on September 11 from 4pm where Ilminster business owners are welcome to visit and share their thoughts four days before the official opening.
Since the post, residents have taken to social media, reacting on Facebook especially and voicing their excitement.
Such residents said: “Hurray.
“At last.
“I’m so excited. So good to see new things happening in Ilminster.”
The space will serve as a pub style setting where customers can come listen to live and recorded music, enjoy late night refreshments and alcohol.

In June, a variation of premises licence was submitted to bring the premises in line with what is licensed in the restaurant next door to allow for expansion.
It said the proposed changes in the license will “give this historic pub one last chance to open and for the business to be financially viable.”
On the form, a spokesperson for The George wrote: “As the previous proprietor of a successful and fully compliant hospitality venue in South Somerset, myself and my team have the knowledge and understand what it takes to operate a business in a safe, legal and compliant way.
“We work with the community to serve the community as we love this district and want to help it thrive.”
