The County Drama Festival saw Ilminster Entertainments Society (IES) triumph with their production of My Best Friend.
The event, held at the Warehouse Theatre in Ilminster, featured nine groups performing 10 plays across the weekend.
It was a showcase of Somerset's thriving community theatre, with a range of performances from comedies to dramas.
The standard was high, making the competition fierce.
There was one original play and a record-breaking three youth plays, proving that the love of drama spans all ages and abilities.
Even the youngest actors, some as young as seven, impressed the audience with their performances.
Adjudicator Bob Tomson was highly praised for his "personable interactions" with each group, which helped to create a strong sense of community among the competitors.
The County Shield, for Best Overall Production, was awarded to IES for their hard-hitting drama My Best Friend by Tamsin Oglesby.
The play, about a disastrous holiday reunion in rural France, was directed by Irene Glynn and featured "emotionally driven performances" by actresses Silvey Binmore, Rosie Hawkins, and Laurie Sandford.
All three were nominated for Best Actress, with Rosie taking home the accolade for her "mesmerising performance as Bee Hannon."
The festival was described as a "roaring success," with the theatre "buzzing" with energy throughout the weekend.
